This is an animated image of a waving National Ensign, with the stars in the upper left.

Between two thin blue circles are the words "U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary," with the last word at the bottom. Framing the circular logo are two crossed blue anchors with the middle sections of them unseen.

Thin blue banner across top of page includes the words "U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary" in white italic font to the right of three leaning white stripes with a miniature version of the Auxiliary logo in between the second and third stripe. The second stripe is thinner than the other two stripes.

Free Boat Checks

Flotilla members regularly conduct free Vessel Safety Checks at area marinas, and we are also available by appointment.  These Checks were most recently done on Saturday, May 24, at the North Shore Marina at Indian River Inlet.  To request a VSC please contact the Webmaster or go to the I Want A VSC web site and enter your zip code for the closest examiners.  For more details about the VSC please go to the national web site of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.

This safety check is voluntary and no record of whether the vessel passes goes to any law enforcement agency.  The goal of each check is to review with the owner what he or she should do and have on board to make sure that every trip on the water is safe and enjoyable.  Following successful completion of the check, a decal is awarded.  Some insurance companies will discount policies 10 percent for owners who have these decals.
